Since we finally got the hole in the wall of the basement fixed, I've been starting to plan what I'm going to put in the big tanks we'll finally be able to set up. Yes, we still have to get a new floor in and then paint, but a girl can dream.
We went up to Exotic Aquatics in Towson the other day and I managed to pick up some keyhole cichlids. These guys were in a tank with a Jack Dempsey (very agressive fish) for some reason and really beat up. They didn't look sickly though so I managed to talk the manager into giving me the three of them for just $13. Considering they were priced at $8 apiece, I figured this was a good deal. Right now they're recouperating in one of the holding tanks. They look even more beat up at home than they did at the store. You can really see how many scales they're missing. However, active and eating so I figure they should be fine pretty quickly.
I also just this morning got four greenside darters from a local NANFA member. Those will either go in the native tank I'm setting up or into the river manifold with the hillstream loaches. They adapt to a bunch of different currents and their final home will mostly depend on their behavior and what what I end up with in the big tank.
